Job Title: 

-Lead Carpenter

Job Overview: 

The Lead Carpenter has strong organization and communication skills. An in-depth understanding of rough and finish carpentry methods and techniques, refined carpentry skills, and the ability to interact with subcontractors and clients. The Lead Carpenter shall use these skill sets in combination with management software (BuilderTrend), a strong understanding of building science, and a hands-on approach to ensure the success of a project.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:  

  • Perform carpentry at a high level with minimal direct supervision. Including knowledge of trim profiles, proper installation, scale for a space/detail and fit and finish.

  • Create a job task list, delegate and verify completion, and/or complete oneself.

  • Communicate with subcontractors and clients to verify schedules.

  • Communicate with subcontractors and clients daily to ensure selections, samples, rough-in locations, etc. are all correct.

  • Communicate with subcontractors and clients to identify change orders, create material take-offs and general scope of work.

  • Verify job cost against estimates/quotes provided by subcontractors.

  • Complete daily logs on Builder Trend with photos, work complete, and note critical items.

  • Create and track To-Dos on Builder Trend and share with the project team as necessary.

  • Schedule all inspections, dumpsters, port-a-pots, etc. for projects.

  • Read and understand blueprints and written specifications. Also understand work orders, change orders, and all other carpentry-related job documents.

  • Layout and verify all aspects of the project.

  • Establish/coordinate grades and elevations for subcontractors to use a benchmark (includes the use of a transit).

  • Check and correct framing for square, plumb, and flat as needed for finishes.

  • Install cabinetry, trim, and associated accessories.

  • Install doors and windows (including using wall flashings as needed).

  • Install interior trim, base, casing, crown molding, etc. with superior craftsmanship.

  • Complete simple repairs in drywall, painting/staining, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and flooring.

  • Clean the job site daily and lock it up.

  • Set up dust control and prepare a project for each phase of construction (i.e. demo, framing, drywall, etc.)

  • Assist other team members on other projects when needed.

  • Complete misc. punch list items as needed to complete projects in a timely manner.

  • Address warranty items if and when they arise.

  • Ensure job site safety, protection, and maintenance of company tools, and trucks.

  • Miscellaneous other duties as required.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum (7) seven years of carpentry experience

  • Minimum (3) years of project management experience

  • Complete command of rough and finish carpentry skills

  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to learn and use management software on phones, tablets, and/or computers

  • Previous experience with construction management software is an asset!

  • The ability to read/understand construction documents and draw/sketch construction details

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work on a consistent basis, including lifting 75+ pounds, standing, using ladders, and working in crawl spaces.

Compensation/Benefits:

  • Salary: $60,000 - $80,000/year
